As a native of southern California, I developed a passion for drawing and photography at a very young age. My love of history ~ particularly Native American history ~ inspired me to express myself through works in oil and colored pencils. All of my portrait paintings depict real people as I work mostly from photos I have taken.  I was  honored to have traveled with the Indian people for 3-1/2 years to continue photographing and drawing  Native Americans.

I studied art and photography at Cerritos College in California. I have received extensive training in colored pencil techniques through Susan Gore Gardner, my mentor and best friend. I attended work shops by reknowned artists Joe Belt and Ann Kullburg.  My favorite drawing and drawing photography subjects include people, concert photos, landscapes, seascapes, flowers and animals.  On the pages of this new web site you are invited to enjoy viewing these subjects that I've captured through my lens and paintbrush.  And colored pencils!

In my paintings and photographs, I strive to encourage the spirit, dignity, understanding and preservation of each aspect of God's creation. I also try to convey a story, but yet leave much to the imagination of the viewer to percieve what speaks to them.  My inspirations have been the Old Master painters of the 16th-18th century, for to me they possessed the ability to awaken the soul to the beauty and awesomeness of God, the ultimate Creator. With my own work I too strive to honor Him.

I have been married for 22-1/2 years, quite happily too!  We do not have children but hubby and I take in rescued Shelties who seem to enjoy the attention and love we bestow on them!  We really love the breed. We have had 7 Shelties through the years and hope to have more.

Two years ago I decided to pursue another avenue regarding my love of history.  I became an 18th Century Re-enactor.  We strive to perserve history at our best.  Through this hobby I am able to use my photography skills in a new way as our group seeks to show our respect for the past in the modern era.
